Following the success of previous Testathon events in London and Stockholm, Dropbox and the Testathon team are bringing the event to the US for the first time.

“A Testathon is like a hackathon but specifically for testers”, said Owais Peer, Testathon founder.

“Hackathons have become a cultural phenomenon that has out of the tech boom and QA has seen rapid growth over the last few years. The problem we’ve seen is that the QA community never really get invited to hackathons – so we thought we would do an experiment and put on a hackathon for testers. And so far they’ve been very popular – we’ve had requests from all over the world to put them on!”

On the day testers attempt to break apps to win prizes for a number of categories including Best Security Bug and Most Personal Devices.

The Testathon is a non-profit event meaning any sponsorship is put toward costs food, venue and prizes (cash, devices, etc).

“We’re bringing together the QA community in a way that hasn’t been done before and this next Testathon with Dropbox is going to be the biggest and best yet” said Owais.
